My research examines the connections between learning, teaching and assessment in the classroom and high-stakes assessment contexts. To explore this complexity I work with interdisciplinary (e.g., school psychology) and applied research teams (immigration settlement organizations) to find ways to better understand and support diverse learners. My current research focuses on the experiences of youth with a refugee background in high schools and language learning programs. I teach graduate and undergraduate courses focused on teaching English as an additional language and classroom assessment for K-12 and adult language learning settings.
